Pest control programs

Pest control programs provide control for pests that are eithor always in the environment or are always being re - introduced to an environment. Rodents are a good example of pests that are always in the environment. Cockroaches being brought into a premise in the folds of boxing or packaging is an example of pests being re -introduced.

The need for a pest control program may be because of environmental factors. A premise may be located near a stream or river bank and get rat problems because of this. It may also be because of what the premise is in the business of; i.e. food manufacturers will attract more pest than non food manufacturing businesses.

Any commercial pest control program should have the following:
Regular reporting; each visit should be documented with what was carried out, which products were used, recommendations as a bare minimum.
Program folder; including MSDS sheets, qualifications, insurance certificates, all reports, as a bare minimum.
A service agreement; everyone wants to know where they stand. A program should be no different. An agreement should include what the service will offer, how often and how much it will cost.
Extra requirements; Some programs have specialised requirements. Especially those that are audited regularly. These programs may require any number of extra requirements including; pest control site maps, activity registers, procedural manuals, entomological analysis, sighting registers and much more.

Treatments are varied and canĀ  include; gel baiting, live capture, baiting, misting, fogging, spraying, dusting, fumigating and shooting to mention only a few.

Typically any treatment that requires extra organisation to ensure safety should be arranged well in advance with the client well informed at every step of the process.
